Fishing at Lopez Lake
Lopez Lake is home to largemouth and smallmouth bass, red-ear sunfish, crappie, catfish, and rainbow trout (stocked in the winter). Access to the lake is fairly easy along the developed eastern shore where roads snake along close to the water's edge. Most anglers fish from boats, exploring the numerous inlets and deep channels. A variety of vessels good for fishing can be rented at the marina.
Where to Fish on Lopez Lake
The most convenient place to fish at Lopez Lake is F dock near the marina store. Fish of all species have been caught there. Trolling for trout near the dam is often successful. Bass are often caught near the edge of brush lines in water 3 - 10 feet deep. Some of the best fishing is found in the inlets such as Miller's Cove, the Vasquez Arm, and along the Wittenberg Arm. Catfish are reportedly most easily caught at dawn or dusk.
