A half hour from Shaver Lake at Huntington Lake are 7 campgrounds. All of them take reservations. The camping fee for each site is $20 per night.

Shaver Lake Area Hike


Bald Mountain
3 miles one way, climbing 1300'
Begin 8 miles east of Shaver Lake on Dinkey Creek Road.
Climb to the summit of Bald Mountain. An old fire lookout tower is located there. Panoramic views of the entire area.

Camping at Shaver Lake

Shaver Lake is owned by Southern California Edison. The company operates the popular Camp Edison on a peninsula on the west side of the lake. Unlike most campgrounds, Camp Edison offers electricity to all its sites, cable TV, and internet.

Other Forest Service Campgrounds are located at Shaver Lake and at nearby Dinkey Creek and Huntington Lake. The best local RV Parks are also found in the Huntington Lake area.

A picnic area is included in the Dorabelle Campground at Shaver Lake, but the campground is closed for the 2013-14 seasons for construction. Other picnic sites are along Dinkey Creek.

Camp Edison is operation by Southern California Edison, located on the west shore of Shaver Lake.
Camp Edison is a premier campground with a wide variety of excellent amenities that rival many resorts.
