Santa Margarita Lake's campgrounds are operated by San Luis Obispo County Parks. There are 60 primitive campsites on the south shore of the lake, distributed among four campgrounds:

  • Coyote Campground
  • Roadrunner Campground
  • Grey Pine Campground
  • Osprey Campgrounds

Piped water is available in the campgrounds and pay showers are nearby. Facilities at the lake include restrooms, a playground, a seasonal swimming pool, and an equestrian staging area. Hiking trails lead along the south shore of the lake.
Camping Fees:
  Primitive sites per night - $33 weekdays, $36 weekends, $41 holidays
  (October - March: $30, $33, $41 + $10 reservation fee.
Reservation: Santa Margarita Lake Recreation and Natural Areas   $10.00 reservation fee
