Fishing at Lake Havasu
Lake Havasu is a popular year-round fishing destination. The lake is home to largemouth and smallmouth bass, striped bass, crappie, catfish, bluegill, and redear sunfish.
Where to Fish on Lake Havasu
Anglers do well both from boats and from shore. For those seeking largemouth bass, some of the best locations are from boat docks, around submerged structure and bushes, and off the points. Smallmouth bass are caught in the canyon areas, around rocky points, and at Parker Strip (below the dam). Excellent fishing is also found at Mesquite Cove, Take-Off Point, Havasu Springs and up in the Topock Gorge.
Striped bass are often taken in the main channel of the lake up to Mohave Rock, in Windsor Basin, around Havasu Springs, around Parker Dam, and at Site Six on the island. March through May are the best months for stripers. Anyone seeking crappie would do well in the shallows, especially the Bill Williams arm. Most of the docks are good places for bluegills. Sunfish are often found around structures and rocky areas or lurking in the weeds. Catfish are caught in the backs of coves.
