Fishing at Pinecrest Lake
Pinecrest Lake is planted with rainbow trout every week during the summer. The lake also has brown trout, catfish, and some Kokanee salmon. A fish cleaning station is located near the launch ramp.
Where to Fish on Pinecrest Lake
Fishing is good both from the shore and from boats. The public fishing pier south of the beach area has plenty of room for casting and is a good place for children to fish. Other good fishing locations from shore include the rocky point southwest of the dam and the rocks at the far end of the lake near the stream inlet. Shore fishermen also have good luck near the dam. By taking the 4-mile round-trip trail to the east end of the lake you can fish in waters untouched by 90% of Pinecrest's anglers.
Trollers do well working the deep portion of the lake from about 15 to 30 feet down. One of the more productive areas is to troll along the drop-off that parallels the south shore near the middle of the lake. Anglers in float tubes do well near the dam, along the eastern shore, and outside the swim area buoys.
