Donner Lake is surrounded mostly by private property. The only camping at the lake is in Donner Memorial State Park. However, a short distance away to the north and south are a number of good National Forest campgrounds. Some are located around Prosser and Boca Reservoirs while others are to the south along the Truckee River.
RV Parks are found in Truckee and to the south in Tahoe Vista. Another RV Park is located across Donner Summit in Cisco Grove.
