To reach Donner Lake is as easy as finding your way to Interstate 80 and following it east or west until you reach the lake. The turnoff to Donner Lake is well marked on 80.

From Lake Tahoe's west shore, head to Tahoe City and then take Highway 89 north to Truckee. Donner Lake is just west of Truckee. From the north or east shores of Tahoe, drive to Kings Beach and then take Highway 267 north to Truckee. Follow Interstate 80 west a few miles to the Donner Lake turnoff.
